The Tabor volleyball team split victories the opening week of the season with two matches played at Oklahoma City University.
The Bluejays lost their match with OCU on Friday, but won their match with College of the Ozarks.
Saturday they again lost their first match, this time to Southern Nazarene University, but won their second one against Southwestern Assemblies of God University.
Southwestern Assemblies? Tabor started well, edging the Lions 25-23 in the first game of the match. The Lions rallied in the next two games to outscore the Bluejays 25-18 and 25-17. But the Bluejays held on to win the fourth game, 25-21, and the fifth, 15-11.
Senior Tina Frick led the Bluejays with 19 kills and Jessie Vogts added 17 kills.
Vogts posted 47 total attacks, with Frick adding 36. Jessica Wollenberg and Cortney Janzen registered 22 and 21 total attacks.
Hollie Tabor had 15 digs and newcomer Amy Jo Maphet had 13. The Bluejays also managed 10.5 total blocks during the match.
Southern Nazarene? Tabor lost every set against SNU, 23-25, 16-25, 19-25.
Tina Frick was the bright spot for the Bluejays, posting 14 kills and 29 total attacks.
Teammate Jessie Vogts managed eight kills and 26 total attacks.
The Bluejays had 5.5 team blocks overall, with Jessica Wollenberg and Cortney Janzen each contributing a solo block.
College of the Ozarks?Tabor registered a win in the second match of the day, 25-22, 20-25, 25-19 and 25-22.
Jessie Vogts led the team with 49 total attacks and 15 kills. Tina Frick had a strong game, posting 16 kills and 36 total attacks, as well as two solo blocks.
Cortney Janzen and Corissa Bartel each had a solo block.
The Bluejays had nine team blocks in the victory.
OCU?In their first match of the season,the Bluejays lost all three sets to the Stars, 24-26, 21-25, 19-25.
Tina Frick posted 10 kills and 22 total attacks while Jessie Vogts added six kills and 27 total attacks. Frick also had the Bluejays? only two solo blocks.
Tabor had 8.5 team blocks.
Coming?The Bluejays are scheduled to compete for the first time at home Saturday versus MidAmerica Christian, beginning at 3 p.m.
