Bluejays soar to 14-4 finish in KCAC

Tabor College finished its regular season by extending its win streak to four matches and improving to 14-4 in the conference and 18-10 overall with wins over Bethany and Bethel. They finished in second place in the KCAC.

?The team had a great finish to KCAC play,? coach Amy Ratz?laff said. ?We went 8-1 in the second round and really started playing well the last couple of weeks.?

Senior Tina Frick was named the KCAC Player of the Year and teammate Hollister Wolf earned Setter of the Year honors.

Bethel ?Tabor took out Bethel in three games Nov. 2, 25-23, 25-16, 25-15.

Tina Frick contributed 10 kills for the Bluejays. Corissa Bartel and Jessie Vogts each added nine.

Setter Hollister Wolf fed the Bluejay offense with 36 assists, helping Tabor to 41 kills.

Wolf also had 10 digs, with Hollie Tabor adding eight. Jessica Wollenburg dominated the net with five blocks and Frick added four.

Bethany?Tabor swept Bethany Oct. 31 for the second time this season, securing the No. 2 seed in the KCAC tournament this week.

?That?s a good win for us,? coach Amy Ratzlaff said. ?Lots of good things are happening. I just felt like the girls played well tonight because they played clean and they transitioned well.?

Tina Frick led the offense with 11 kills, while Jessica Wollenburg contributed 10. Hollister Wolf provided 37 assists, helping Tabor to 45 kills.

Cortney Janzen and Jessie Vogts added nine and six kills, respectively.

Amy Jo Maphet anchored the defense with 12 digs, with Wolf chipping in 10. Hollie Tabor had nine digs, while Jessica Dixon, Corissa Bartel and Abbey Burns each added six.

Frick and Wollenburg had five blocks each and Vogts contributed three.

?The defense and the offense gelled really well,? Ratzlaff said. ?It?s volleyball, so you always hope you play the game you?re supposed to. But that was the game I was hoping to play.?

Coming?The second-seeded Bluejays were scheduled to play at home Nov. 8 versus the winner of a match between No. 10 seed Bethany and No. 7 seed McPherson to begin KCAC tournament competition. The match begins at 7 p.m.

?I feel the women have worked really hard this month, and I would love to see that hard work pay off this week during conference tournament,? coach Amy Ratzlaff said. ?We are excited to be able to play at home on Tuesday.?

The winner of the tournament will progress to the NAIA?national volleyball tournament Nov. 19.
