Bluejays pick up two KCAC wins

The Tabor softball team split with the University of Saint Mary and McPherson College last week, putting them at 15-15 for the season and 4-2 in conference play.

McPherson?Tabor lost Game 1 to the Bulldogs, 7-3, when the Bluejays were unable to stop a five-run surge in the sixth inning.

Taylor Funk drove in two runs, including a home run, and Taylor Lowery added a third added RBI.

Karen Harris pitched 51?3 innings, allowing six runs on seven hits while striking out two.

Kyleen Condon pitched 11?3 innings, allowing two hits and one run. Courtney Capps recorded no hits and a strikeout in one-third of an inning.

The Bluejays won Game 2, 9-0, scoring six runs in the fourth inning.

Amanda Howe drove in five runs, including a home run. Funk also chipped in two RBIs.

Tracie Kithcart pitched all five innings, allowing four hits and no runs while striking out three.

Saint Mary?Tabor, unable to overcome an early seven-run deficit, lost Game 1 to the Spires, 11-6.

Cortnie Killen and Taylor Funk each drove in two runs, including a home run for Funk.

Karen Harris pitched only 12?3 innings, allowing seven hits and six runs.

Kyleen Condon pitched 21?3, allowing four hits and two runs while Courtney Capps pitched three innings, allowing three hits and three runs with one strikeout.

Game 2 was a different story. The Bluejays put together a five-run fourth inning to propel them to an 8-4 victory.

Funk led the effort at the plate with four RBIs, including a home run, and Brittney Dymnioski added two RBIs.

Tracie Kithcart pitched five innings for the win, allowing seven hits and two runs while striking out one.

Condon pitched the final two innings, allowing two hits and two runs.

Coming?Tabor was scheduled to travel to Sterling College April 11 before hosting Mid?America Nazarene University the following day.

The Bluejays will travel Saturday to South?western College.
