Bluejays lose two to Ottawa in finale

he Tabor College softball team was shutout in its final conference doubleheader of the regular season Thursday at Ottawa in a pair of games rescheduled from Tuesday because of weather.

Tabor lost Game 1, 6-0. Ottawa’s Gabby Markham threw a one-hitter .

Sara Vela recorded Tabor’s only hit: a second-inning single. .

Brianna Quiroz sustained the pitching loss. She gave up six hits and four runs (all earned) in five innings of work. She walked no one and struck out two batters.

Tabor lost Game 2, 12-0, in five innings.

The Bluejays recorded seven hits in the game but could not plate any runs. Ottawa, meanwhile, used a 10-run second inning to put the game away. The Braves had nine hits in the frame and benefitted from four Tabor errors.

Kellyn Holt was 3-for-3, including a double to leadoff the game.

Tabor stranded eight base-runners in the contest.

Quiroz (6-17) sustained the pitching loss. She gave up six hits and five runs (all earned) in one inning of work. She walked no one and struck out two batters.

Tabor won one of its last 10 games and did not qualify for the KCAC tournament. Tabor concluded the regular season ninth in the conference with a 6-16 record. Tabor was 14-34 overall this season.
