Bluejay women’s soccer defeats Bethel

After suffering a double overtime defeat earlier in the week, the Tabor College women’s soccer team earned a 4-0 victory over Bethel Saturday for homecoming.

Dakota Spencer scored first in the 18th minute of play off an assist by Keely Antonio. Tabor held a 1-0 advantage at halftime.

The Bluejays added three scores in the second half. Brenna Cooper scored in the 55th minute off an assist by Hannah Armand. Then Antonio found the back of the net in the 79th minute. Spencer scored her second goal of the day in the 87th minute to bring it to the final, 4-0 margin.

Tabor outshot Bethel, 35-4, and held an 18-2 advantage in shots on goal.

Goalkeeper Ruby-Anne Fines had two saves.

Friends—Tabor suffered a 2-1 defeat in double overtime Wednesday. Friends scored before halftime in the 42nd minute, but Tabor evened the score when Taylor Holstrom found the back of the net off an assist by Darrian Gonzalez in the 83rd minute of play.

Neither team scored again in regulation or in the first overtime period. The Falcons kicked in the game-winner in the 101st minute of play.

Friends outshot Tabor, 23-4, and held a 13-2 advantage in shots on goal. Goalkeeper Carly Rowan had 11 saves.

Coming—Tabor (5-3, 9-6) will travel to Oklahoma Wesleyan (4-5, 6-6-1) tonight for a 5 p.m. game. The Bluejays will host Ottawa (7-1, 12-3) Saturday at 6 p.m. The Braves are receiving votes in the NAIA Coaches’ Top 25 poll.
