Bluejay women lose two

The Tabor College women?s soccer team continues to improve despite a 2-1 loss to visiting McPherson College Oct. 8. A year ago, Tabor lost to McPherson 7-0.

Bethany defeated Tabor 3-1 on the strength of two second-half goals Saturday.

?We made a great effort on Wednesday, but made a couple of crucial mistakes,? coach Grant Brubacher said. ?The result does not show our programs continued improvement.?

Bethany?Jessica Burden posted three shots and did not score, but Kelly White struck twine with her shot, which was set up by a cross from Leigh Costello.

McPherson?Tabor fell behind 2-0, but the Bluejays battled back, pulling within a goal when junior Jessica Burden found the back of the net.

Burden had a crack at tying the game in the waning seconds, but the McPherson keeper sagely dove onto the ball.

Tabor keeper Aubrey Whitehorn recorded eight saves as the Bluejays were only able to muster four shots on goal.
