Bluejay men?s tennis team falls at Emporia

The Tabor men?s tennis team dropped an 8-1 decision at Emporia State University March 11

?All three doubles matches were closely contested with close games and exceptional play by both teams,? coach John Ruder said.

In No. 1 doubles, Kelyn Vix and Tyler Dort dropped an 8-5 decision to Keenan Smith and Bryson Dabney.

Sam Brucks and Jake Brucks fell 8-3 to Andrew Davids and Matt Edwards in No. 2 doubles, while Nate Panttaja and Darryn Davis lost to Mitch Kibbe and Kenton Hallowell, 8-3, in the No. 3 spot.

Panttaja gained the Bluejays? sole victory of the day in a battle against Dabney in No. 3 singles.

?Nathan Panttaja played a tough three set match,? Ruder said. ?It was decided by a 10-point tiebreaker which replaced the third set.?

Final score of the match was 6-2, 6-7 (5-7), (10-8).

Vix fell to Smith, 6-1, 6-4, in No. 1 singles, while Dort dropped a 5-2, 6-2 contest to Davids at the No. 2 spot.

Jake Brucks fell to Kibbe, 6-1, 6-1, while Sam Brucks dropped 6-1, 6-2, to Edwards.

Davis lost to Hallowell 6-0, 6-1.

Coming?The Tabor men and women travel to Texas this week, where they will compete Thurs?day at?LeTourneau University. Tabor will face Austin College Friday at 3 p.m. before taking on Southwestern University at 1 p.m. Saturday.
