Bluejay men 2-1, women 1-2 in soccer this season

The Tabor College men’s soccer team suffered a 4-1 loss?its first of the season?Saturday at Avila University.

Tabor led early as freshman David Simmet found the back of the net just 17 minutes into the first half. But the Eagles scored twice in a 26 second span for a 2-1 halftime lead.

Tabor’s offense could not find its rhythm as Avila tacked on two second-half goals to secure a 4-1 victory.

The women?s team played without top scorer Jessica Burden and was outshot 41-2 by Avila. Of the Eagles? shots, 25 were on goal and eight got by Bluejays keeper Aubrey Whitehorn.

The men (2-1) and the women (1-2) traveled to Manhattan Christian Tuesday. Both play Oklahoma Baptist Friday at home, and both visit Benedictine Sept. 22.
