Bluejay baseball wins one of three

The Tabor College baseball team took one of three games from fifth-ranked Oklahoma City University Friday and Saturday.

Tabor lost Friday in a nine inning game, 9-4. The Bluejays scored a run in the top of the first inning, but Oklahoma City took the lead with three runs in the second and another in the third. The Stars outscored Tabor 3-2 in the fifth inning and 2-1 in the seventh to claim the victory.

Kevin Seeger was 2-for-5, including a home run, with two RBIs. Troy Torres was 2-for-5, including a double, with one RBI. Kirk Rocha also doubled.

Jean Acevedo absorbed the loss for the Bluejays.

The teams split a doubleheader Saturday. Tabor gained an 11-1 victory in Game 1. After two scoreless innings, Tabor got on the board with two runs in the third inning and added two more in the fourth before the Stars scored a run in the bottom of the fifth inning. A seven-run sixth inning sealed the win.

Seeger hit a home run and had three RBIs. CJ DeDeaux was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Luis Munoz was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Colton Flax, Rocha and Torres all doubled.

Jacob Webb was winning pitcher. Over seven innings, he allowed five hits and one run (earned) while walking two and striking out 10.

Tabor lost Game 2, 8-3. The Bluejays scored first with a run in the top of the second inning, but the Stars answered with four runs in the bottom of the inning. Each team managed two runs in the fourth inning, and the Stars sealed the win with two runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Pete Lelich was 2-for-3 at bat with two RBIs. Russell Longworth absorbed the loss for Tabor.

Coming?Tabor (8-3) will play at Avila Saturday at 1 p.m. and will travel to Manhattan Christian Tuesday for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
