Bluejay baseball season under way

With the weather holding off enough to play two doubleheaders last week, Tabor Bluejay baseball?s season is under way.

Finishing 2-2 for the week, Tabor swept Central Christian College Wednesday, 10-0 and 15-4, and was swept by the University of Sioux Falls, 6-2 and 10-2, Thursday. All games were played in Hillsboro.

Jonathan Murray and Nicholas Reif combined for a no-hit shut out in the opening game against Central Christian. Murray picked up the victory. Catcher Tyson Kendrick finished 1-for-3 with three RBIs.

In the second game against Central Christian, Nathan Rausch batted 2-for-2 with a homerun and four RBIs. Wes Stancher picked up the pitching victory, throwing for 3.2 innings and allowing four earned runs.

A doubleheader against Sioux Falls scheduled for Friday was canceled because of weather.

Tabor was voted to finish in the third spot of the KCAC by conference coaches. Sterling was predicted to finish first, St. Mary second.

Scheduled for Tuesday is a home doubleheader against Northwestern Oklahoma State. Friday, the Bluejays will host William Jewell College. First games start at 1 p.m.
