Bluebirds lead WSL volleyball selections

The three Marion County schools in the Wheat State League combined for 16 of the 25 volleyball players who received all-league recognition this season from the coaches of the eight-team league.

Goessel, who placed fourth in the Class 1A-Division I state tournament and sported a 34-11 season record, led the way with seven athletes recognized.

Junior Erin Brubaker and sophomores Page Hie?bert and Alyssa Booton were named to the first team. Sophomore Alicen Meysing and freshman Olivia Duerk?sen were named to the second team while juniors Makayla King and Gentry Thiesen received honorable mention.

Bluebird coach Crysta Guhr was named Coach of the Year.

Six players were recognized from Centre, which compiled a 26-10 season record. Senior Bryanna Svoboda and junior Shelby Makovec were named to the first team, senior Cacey Simons and junior Brenna Shields to the second team and senior McKenzie Deines and freshman Sum?mer Espinoza received honorable mention.

Peabody-Burns, which finished with a 12-19 record, was represented by two players.

Sophomore Katy Benson was named to the second team and senior Kaycy Gon?za?lez received honorable mention.
