Bethany eliminates Bluejay tennis teams

The Tabor tennis teams finished their season with two losses to Bethany College in the KCAC tournament.

?This year?s men?s and women?s teams were right up there with some of the best,? coach Michael Hagen said. ?I wish the teams luck next season, as I will miss coaching a lot.?

Hagen will be leaving his position to assistant coach Chad Gayer.

The Tabor women lost 5-4 to Bethany.

?The women came out and fought extremely hard against Bethany and came just short,? Hagen said. ?There were matches we definitely could have won to change the outcome, but all I asked of the girls is to play hard and leave it all on the court, and they did that.?

The Tabor men drew a tough match-up, losing to No. 1-seeded Bethany, 5-0.

?They battled hard, keeping the doubles matches close early until Bethany pulled away,? Hagen said.

The Tabor men have 10 sophomores and freshmen, with no upperclassmen, so the core of the team will likely be around for awhile, Hagen added.

?I?ve had an awesome five years of coaching here at Tabor College,? Hagen said. ?I?ve been blessed with hard-working players that have made it so easy.?
