Avila joins KCAC

Avila University has accepted an invitation for membership into the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference, effective in 2018-19, as announced by the KCAC Board of Presidents last week.

Located in Kansas City, Avila will become the KCAC’s 13th member institution and is the first from Missouri.

Avila is a four-year Catholic University sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet and accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.

Formerly a member of the Heart of America Athletic Conference, Avila competes in the following sports: men’s and women’s cross country, football, volleyball, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s indoor/outdoor track and field, softball, baseball, cheerleading and dance.

“We are delighted to have Avila University join our ranks,” said KCAC Commissioner Scott Crawford. “This addition further establishes the KCAC as a flagship conference within the NAIA.

“Avila’s presence provides several opportunities in the Kansas City market to our current membership. It allows for additional alumni networking, increases the recruitment of student-athletes and strengthens geographic balance within the conference footprint.”
