Twenty-four members of the KCAC regular-season co-champion Tabor College Bluejays have received all-conference recognition by the teams’ football head coaches.
Sterling College, ranked 16th in the NAIA, and Tabor, ranked 7th, both sported 8-1 conference records this fall.
Chuck Lambert, Sterling’s head coach, was unanimously named KCAC Coach of the Year by his peers.
Tabor’s Evan Sprayberry was named the 2017 KCAC Player of the Year, while Offensive Player of the Year was awarded to Darryl Terrell of Sterling.
Defensive Player of the Year honors went to Tim Hamilton of Friends, Southwestern’s Mario Esparza took home the Special Teams Player of the Year award, Kansas Wesleyan’s Christian McQueen is the Dr. Ted Kessinger award recipient, and KWU’s John Michaletti has been named Assistant Coach of the Year.
Following is the list of Bluejays who were chosen for honors this fall. An asterisk (*) indicates a unanimous selection.
Quarterback: senior Curry Parham, 340 yards net rushing, 10 touchdowns; 1,862 yards passing, 18 touchdowns.
Running back: junior *Drevion Cooper, 1,218 yards net rushing (10.2 per rush),
Wide receiver: senior *Zach Johnson, 858 yards, 42 receptions (20.4 average), 13 touchdowns.
Line: senior *Spencer Baalman.
Line: junior Robert Phillips.
Wide receiver: junior Justin Swims, senior Skylar Valencia, senior Treydonte Hill.
Line: Senior Carlos DeLeon, senior Robbie Gallinis.
Line: senior *Evan Sprayberry, 60 total tackles (22 for loss), 10 sacks, 3 fumble recoveries.
Linebacker: Brad Kistner, 84 total tackles (9 for loss), 1 fumble recovery.
Defensive back: *Sean Kelley, 33 total tackles (3 for loss), 4 interceptions for 80 yards, 9 break-ups.
Line: senior DiMitri Bowie, 42 total tackles (11 for loss), 21⁄2 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries (93 yards return).
Defensive back: senior Kevin Golden, 32 total tackles (31⁄2 for loss).
