The Centre volleyball team returns three starters from last year?s team.

The Cougars were 15-14 in 2014, finishing third in the Wheat State League and as runners-up in the league tournament.

Yvonne Burhoop returns for her 34th year as head coach with four returning letter-winners.

Junior hitter and setter Summer Espinoza is a returning second-team all-league selection. Additional returning letter-winners include junior hitter and setter Shelby Pankratz, junior libero Alexius Kendrick, and sophomore middle Kate Basore.

?Three others vying for starting positions are juniors Katie Marler and Haley Rudolph and newcomer Emily Schlesener,? Burhoop said.

The Cougars should be in among the top three teams in the Wheat State League, Burhoop said, with strong contenders in Goessel and Rural Vista.

Centre was scheduled to host Inman and Canton-Galva Sept. 1 to open the season. The Cougars will host a triangular with Goessel and Elyria Chris?tian Sept. 8.
