Cheer Coach Laura Hett refers to her cheerleaders as her girls like a proud mother.

The cheerleading team at Centre is one of the most determined groups of young women I have been able to work with. There is always something new that they want to learn or a skill they want to perfect. Even when something doesn’t go as planned the girls never fail to get back up and try again,” said Hett

The team has dealt with a few injuries this season and the team members who were hurt are always on the sideline or watching practices. They are a very close-knit and supportive group of girls. In addition to the team’s determination and spirit, Junior, Emily Silhan, has been selected to travel to Hawaii next summer to participate in an exclusive cheerleading camp. Senior, Kaitlyn Hudson, has accepted a full ride scholarship to be a member of the cheerleading team at Coffeyville Community College where she will be cheering on the sideline and participating in cheerleading competitions.

I am excited to see how they continue to progress this season, and achieve more goals before the year comes to a close,” said Hett.

The girls can see be seen cheering on the sidelines at the Centre’s boys basketball games on Tuesday and Friday nights.
