Bluejay softball goes 2-5 for the week

The Tabor College softball team slipped to 9-14 for the season after a 2-5 week.

Hastings?Tabor lost two home games Saturday. In all, Tabor tallied eight hits in a 5-1 loss in Game 1.

Marilee Burge was the losing pitcher. In four innings, she gave up nine hits and three runs (all earned).

The bats came alive in Game 2, but Tabor lost, 11-10. The Bluejays trailed, 10-1, after four innings before adding three runs in the fifth. Hastings scored its final run in the sixth, but with a final rally, Tabor scored six in the bottom of the seventh. In that inning, Araselly Vargas and Susoeff each hit a two-RBI single, and Kaylie Felix and Raegan Ternes hit RBI singles.

Jaycie Morris absorbed the loss. In two innings, she gave up seven hits and four runs (all earned).

McPherson Round Robin?Tabor went 1-2 Friday. The Bluejays opened with a 6-1 victory over Graceland, with 10 hits in the game. Araselly Vargas led Tabor, hitting two home runs and going 3-for-4 with five RBIs.

Marilee Burge earned the pitching win. She went the distance, giving up five hits and one earned run.

Tabor then lost to Benedic?tine, 9-1, in five innings. Kellyn Holt was 2-for-3, including a double.

Jaycie Morris took the pitching loss. In 11?3 innings, she gave up six hits and seven runs (two earned).

Tabor concluded the outing with a 3-1 loss to Avila, managing only three hits.

Tristen Hall took the pitching loss. She scattered five hits and three runs (all earned) over six innings.

MidAmerica Nazarene?Tabor split a doubleheader Wednesday. The Bluejays lost Game 1, 6-5. The teams battled to a 4-4 tie after five innings, but MidAmerica outscored the Bluejays 2-1 in the seventh inning.

Tabor tallied 11 hits, led by Yasnaya Susoeff who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Tabor won Game 2, 5-3. The Bluejays never trailed, scoring two runs in the first inning and building a 5-1 lead through four innings. Tabor had nine hits.

Coming?Tabor (9-14) was scheduled to travel to Central Christian today for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. The Bluejays will play at Benedictine Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.
