Bluejay men fall at Washburn, 76-61

The Tabor College men?s basketball team lost an exhibition game to Washburn Monday, 76-61.

With Tabor trailing 20-9, Malik Brooks ignited a 7-0 Bluejay run with a layup and a three-pointer, and when Justin Malan scored, Tabor was within 20-16. But the Ichabods built their lead to 37-24 at halftime.

Washburn extended its lead to 25 points in the second half, but Tabor cut it to 73-61 when JT Nemit drained a three with 1:14 to play. Washburn hit a three to conclude scoring.

Tabor shot 38.8 percent from the field (19-49). Washburn shot 45.2 percent (28-62). Washburn scored 21 points off 16 Tabor turnovers.

Brooks led all scorers with 20 points. Andrew Thomas scored 10 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Malan also chipped in 10 points.

Coming?The Bluejays will resume play by hosting the Tabor Classic Jan. 2-3.
