The Tabor College baseball team, ranked seventh in the NAIA Coaches? preseason Top 25 poll, kicked off the 2015 season with four wins in Texas Friday and Saturday.
Friday, the Bluejays defeated Midland (Neb.), a team receiving votes in the Top 25 poll, 11-3, and followed with a 6-0 victory over East Central University.
Against Midland, Tabor built an 8-0 lead over four innings. Dustin Hurlbutt (1-0) was the winning pitcher. Over 42?3 innings, he gave up three hits and two runs (earned).
Against East Central, the Bluejays had 10 hits and scored one run in both the second and third innings, then added two runs in both the fifth and sixth innings.
Russell Longworth (1-0) was the winning pitcher, allowing just one hit in six innings of work, while walking no one and striking out four.
Saturday began with a 6-4 win over Hannibal-LaGrange. Thomas Long?worth (1-0) was the winning pitcher. Over five innings, he gave up four hits and one run (earned).
Tabor concluded the outing with a 16-10 victory over Dallas Christian.
Jean Acevedo (1-0) was the winning pitcher. Over four innings, he gave up three hits and one run.
Coming?Tabor (4-0) will host Northwestern, a team receiving votes in the NAIA Top 25 poll, in a series Friday and Saturday. The first games of each doubleheader are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
