Track: The Bluebirds participated in the Elyria Christian CKTL meet on Friday, April 26. Both teams took first place out of six teams including Inman High School, Solomon High School, Elyria Christian High School and Peabody-Burns High School.

Hillsboro

Baseball and softball: The teams were scheduled to play at Lyons on Friday, April 29, but the games were canceled due to weather. They were rescheduled for Monday, May 2, but then were canceled due to rain.

Coming —The Trojans will play at home against Pratt on Friday, May 6. It will also be senior night.

Marion

Track: The Marion Warriors competed on Friday, April 26 at the Beloit Relays.

“Another good day for the Warriors. We didn’t place as well as a team as we wanted but we competed well and we did a lot of good things,” said Coach Grant Thierolf.

Their distance runners really looked good, led by Luke Wessel who went under eleven minutes in the 3200M and is getting close to under 5 minutes in the 1600M. Tristen Dye ran well, placing in the 800M and 1600M in two very close races. Christopher Beery ran a tough race in the 3200M and is getting close to having a breakout race. Chance Shults had another very good day, placing in both hurdle races and in the pole vault.

“His 300 hurdle race was a PR by about a second and is getting better in that event by the week,” said Thierolf.

Thierolf said that their young throwers did not place at this meet, but they competed well and improved their marks in many of the events.

“We are looking forward to the next couple of weeks and can’t wait to get to Remington on Friday, said Thierolf.

Coming—The Warriors will compete next on Friday, May 6 at Remington.

Swim: The girls competed at the Maize Girls Swim and Dive Invitational on Saturday, April 30. The Warriors came in at 8th place out of 15 schools with only seven swimmers participating in the meet.

“Great meet! A lot of fast times recorded and some even hit consideration times for state. Just gotta buckle down and keep moving forward,” said Coach Randy Carlson.

Coming – The Warriors wrap up their regular season this week with competition at Hutchinson on Tuesday, May 3, at Newton on Thursday, May 5 and then at Andover on Saturday, May 7.
