Girls track – The Warriors competed in the Beloit Relays on April 28.
“It was a pretty tough day at one of the oldest track and field meets in the state. The weather kept most performances from being great, but we did have some things that went okay for us,” said Coach Grant Thierolf.
Mckinnon Waner had a big day in the discus, placing second with a wind that wasn’t very favorable.
“She is leading our throwers and doing a great job of being consistent every week,” Thierolf said.
Gabby Newell continued to put a good hurdle season together, making the finals and finishing fourth.
Kayla McPhail ran really well in the 100M dash as she made the finals and then set a PR in the triple jump.
Taryn Kraus lowered her time in the 100H and made the finals in the event.
Thierolf said, “We just need some consistency across the board and we look forward to competing at Remington this Friday.”
Boys track – The boys also competed at Beloit on April 28.
“A pretty similar day to what the girls team did at Beloit. We had some good performances and then we had some that needed to be better. Very pleased with the 3200M runners. Christopher (Beery) and Eli (Klenda) both set big PRs in the race and Luke (Wessel) joined them in a really tough run. Very pleased with Jesse Snyder and Jonathan Frese for making the finals in the 100M dash. It was fun to see them run the race twice at a meet,” said Thierolf.
Chance Shults upped his season best in the pole vault and then placed in both hurdle races.
Quade Williams brought home a fourth-place finish in the shot put and is looking to really break loose in the next couple of weeks.
“Tristen Dye continued to run very good 800M races, he is in an event that is just loaded in our area. Like the girls we are looking for some good practice work this week and look forward to a great meet at Remington,” said Thierolf.
Coming—The Warriors will compete next at 3 p.m. at Remington on May 5.
