The 15-and-under CVL All-Stars went 3-0 in district play, defeating Lyons in the district championship game to earn a berth in the state tournament. The team comprises Hillsboro athletes Jorge Hanschu (front middle) and Brooks Gardner (front right), Peabody athletes Jayton Scott (back, second from left), Chance Elliott (sixth from left) and Bryant Young (third from right), as well as athletes from Chase County and Council Grove. In the finals, Hanschu pitched 11?3 innings and was credited with the save, while Gardner was 3-for-4 at the plate, with a triple and three runs driven in. The state tournament began Friday at Frontenac.
