Women featured at TC concert

The Tabor College Music Department will give a concert featuring the Women?s Chorale at 7:30 p.m. May 3, at Parkview Mennonite Brethren Church, 310 S. Main, Hillsboro.

Small instrumental ensembles groups, including the woodwind and trombone choirs will also perform. The public is invited to attend.

The woodwind ensemble, which include oboes, clarinet and flutes, will perform two selections and the flute choir will perform a double quartet arrangement of Mozart?s ?Ave Verum Corpus.?

The trombone choir will perform the energetic Sousa march, ?The Liberty Bell,? and the low brass choir will play an eight-part arrangement of the hymn, ?Great Is Thy Faithfulness.?

The Women?s Chorale was revived this year to accommodate the number of women singers on campus and to promote involvement in campus groups.

Brad Vogel, director, has enjoyed working with this group.

?They are energetic, get along well, and have demonstrated a commitment to excellence that is inspiring,? he said.

The Women?s Chorale will perform a variety of music, including a mixture of hymns, folk songs and Latin texts. Their repertoire includes ?How Can I Keep From Singing,? featuring a solo by Kaitlyn Brown, and ?Amazing Grace? (from Over the Hills), featuring Emily Schmidt on flute. The ensemble is accompanied by Megan Wiebe.

Senior Eric Funk, trumpet, and sophomore Cody Schroeder will be featured performing the Herbert Clarke duet, ?Cousins.?
