Zach Wiens, a senior at Goessel High School, earned a Superior 1 rating by playing Kabalevsky’s ?Sonatina No. 1? at the state piano contest at Wichita State University Feb. 20. ?He has received a I rating every regional and state piano competition that he has ever been in, all through high school,? according to his piano instructor, Cynthia Goerzen of Goessel. ?Zach played a very difficult song?11 pages, totally memorized?and performed very, very well.? His parents are Dale and Cindy Wiens.
