Weeks aims to build positive memories in school

Todd WeeksTodd Weeks is working as a middle school interrelated teacher in the Goessel district on behalf of the Marion County Spe?cial Education Cooper?ative.

Born and raised in the north-central Kansas town of Downs, Weeks has earned a business degree in accounting from Kansas State University and a teaching degree from Fort Hays State University.

He taught middle school for three years in the Larned system and worked for six years at a corrections facility for girls ages 10 to 221?2.

Weeks said he has ?it?s a small world? connection with his current boss, David Shep?pard, MCSEC director. Shep?pard?s father was the family physician when Weeks was young.

?When I was 3, I awoke during surgery and punched the first Dr. Sheppard,? Weeks recalled.

Working with students keeps him young, he said. His professional goal is to make a difference in their lives.

?I want to build those positive memories and to make learning fun,? Weeks said.

?I have always lived by the rule, ?Find something you love and you never have to work a day in your life.? I enjoy coming to school and I hope to instill that in the students.?

Outside of school, Weeks said he lives to hunt.

?Deer season is my favor?ite time of the year, and Cabelas is my Chucky Cheese,? he said.

Weeks and wife Mary, a nurse in Hillsboro, have two children: Deon, age 9, and Jorja, age 4.

This is the first in a series of staff profiles.
