Sarah Jost, center, a fourth-grade student at Hillsboro Elementary School, was this year?s winner in the Hillsboro American Legion?s T-shirt contest. The contest involved almost 50 HES fourth-graders asked to come up with an original drawing depicting ?anything American,? said Patricia Bartel (pictured at left), one of the contest coordinators. The students could use only red, black or blue markers for their drawings. Eighth-grade students at Hillsboro Middle School judged the entries and the winner?s drawing was reproduced onto T-shirts for all fourth-grade students to wear. Jost?s theme was ?We Are Free.? Along with Bartel and Jost, Sue Wadkins (pictured at right) also coordinating the contest, helped distribute the shirts to everyone in the class. Last year?s winner was Peter Claassen. His theme was, ?God Bless America.?
