Students from Marion Elementary School participate in International Walk to School Day. About 75 children from Marion and Hillsboro elementary schools participated in the event, sponsored by Safe Kids Marion County. For the eighth year, volunteers walked children to school in order to demonstrate important safety behaviors. Students from MES participated in the event Oct. 3, and students from HES participated Oct. 4. In addition to walking to school, Safe Kids Marion County conducted walkability checks, speed enforcement campaigns and other activities to teach children important walking safety tips.
