Voth to present piano recital

Pianist Brandon Voth will perform his junior recital at 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 22, at the Tabor College Chapel. The public is invited to attend.

Voth, from Lynden, Wash., will perform the Prelude and Fugue in F Minor by J.S. Bach; Rhapsody in G Major (Op. 79, No. 2) by Johannes Brahms; and ?Moonlight Sonata? (Op. 27, No. 2) by Ludwig van Beethoven.

?I chose these songs because of the passion interlaced within them,? Voth said. ?Another reason for choosing the Beethoven sonata is that many people have heard the first movement, but have no idea there are two additional movements.?

Voth is a student of Sheila Schmitt, associate professor of piano and piano pedagogy.

?I?ve grown immensely in my faith and in music,? Voth said. ?God has given me many opportunities while here to use the gifts he has given me both in music and in other things.?
