USD 410 accepts several donations

The USD 410 Board met on Monday, Oct. 12 for a short meeting.

The main topic was regarding several generous donations that have been given to the school district. Atmos Energy gave a donation of $5,000 to be used for the USD 410 Food Service Program. There was also a donation of $436.50 from Hillsboro Animal Clinic to be used for the Hillsboro High School

FFA Program, a donation of 2 stock tanks from Cooperative Grain & Supply to be used for Hillsboro

Middle/High School fall sports teams and a donation of 200 face masks to be used by USD 410 students and staff.

The board also approved the distribution of $1,245 of the Brad Neuenschwander Memorial donations from the USD 410 Gifts and Grants Fund to the Hillsboro Community Foundation Hillsboro Trojan Family Scholarship Fund.

The board heard a request and approved it for the following three dates for early release days from school at 1:30 p.m. to allow staff time to complete required five-year accreditation cycle work. The dates are as follows: Wednesday, Nov. 18 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 9 1:30 p.m. and Wednesday, Feb 3 1:30 p.m.

In other business, the board approved:

n the Technology Student Association’s June 23-June 27 National Technology Student Association Conference trip to Orlando, Florida

n music groups’ May 1-May 2 trip to St. Louis, Missouri, contingent on the area of the destination meeting traveling requirements established by the CDC, the KDHE, and the Marion County Health Department and with no district funding other than use of a school vehicle
