Two local KSU students receive funding

Two students from Marion County were among the 146 children and grandchildren of Kansas State University alumni to receive a $1,000 Legacy Scholarship through the KSU Alumni Association.

Karyn Leihy, Hillsboro, and Justin Bina, Marion, were recognized along with the other recipients during the K-State football game in Manhattan Sept. 17.

KSU students receiving the scholarship are incoming freshmen as well as current and transfer students. The recipients include both in-state and out-of-state students. Applicants are considered if at least one parent or grandparent is a K-State alumnus, with preference given to members of the Alumni Association.

The scholarships are made possible through funds generated by the K-State License Plate program, administered by the Alumni Association for the university.
