Tracy-Hefley.jpg Tracy Hefley, Hillsboro, has been hired as the first director of Kids Connection, the community-wide day care and preschool being developed through Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church.

The goal is to begin day care Aug. 1 and start preschool in mid-August to coincide with the start of public school.

?The Kids Connection board is excited about Tracy taking the director position,? said Kim Klein, board chair. ?She has extensive experience in child care centers and comes to our project with much enthusiasm and exciting ideas for bringing Kids Connection and a Christian-based education to people in all walks of life in our community.?

Hefley said her vision for Kids Connection is ?to provide a Christian-based atmosphere that encourages children?s emotional, social, physical and intellectual growth and development.?

She said she encourages adults to volunteer and become involved in the children?s lives.

?I would also like to see parent involvement,? Hefley added. ?I think parents are a key role in their children?s success. I hope we can all work together and establish a quality child-care program.?

Anyone interested in enrolling a child in the day care or preschool programs can pick up an application in the church office at 300 Prairie Pointe.

Parents who have already called the church office and put their name on a preliminary list should still pick up and return a formal application.
