Three Tabor students to present junior recitals

Tabor College music education majors Emily Schmidt, Clarissa Berglund and Aaron Stepanek will be joining for their junior recitals at 7 p.m. April 12 in the Tabor College chapel.

The public is invited to attend.

Schmidt, a flutist from Wichita, has been under the instruction of JoyAnn Brake.

?Tabor has provided opportunities for growth through study, performance, and constructive feedback,? Schmidt said. She is the daughter of Russell Schmidt and Elizabeth Schmidt.

Berglund is a soprano vocalist from Gettysburg, S.D.

?Coming into Tabor, I only knew the basics about music,? she said. ?Music classes and lessons have quickly brought me out of my comfort zone and stretched me beyond what I thought I was capable of both academically and musically.?

She has studied voice under Holly Swartzendruber and is the daughter of Jay and Ardelle Berglund.

Stepanek, a bass vocalist from Hillsboro, said he recognizes the importance of a solid education.

?Tabor has really helped to advance my music career by providing me with a stable education in the beginnings of music,? he said.

Stepanek uses the historical background of music development that he has learned to perform the music in a way that is true to its original context. He is the son of Randy Stepanek and Kerry Stepanek.
