Takedown tourney draws 280-plus youth wrestlers

More than 280 wrestlers from 25 youth wrestling clubs from around the state participated in the 14th annual Hillsboro Takedown Tournament Saturday in Brown Gymnasium.

?The tournament ran very smoothly and we had a great turnout,? said Scott O?Hare director of the tournament and of the Hills?boro Wrestling Club.

?The parents involved with the program really did a fine job stepping up to help with tournament preparation, helping throughout the tournament, and coaching these young wrestlers,? he said.

The Hillsboro Wrestling Club was represented by 29 wrestlers, who competed in pods of three or four wrestlers based on age. Below are the results.


Age 6 & under: Dakota Ogle 1-2 (3rd), Hitch Soyez 2-1 (2nd), Amberley Ogle 2-1 (2nd), Kyson Gawith 1-2 (3rd), Wyatt Soyez 1-2 (3rd), Owen Dalke 2-1 (2nd), Evan Jones 0-3 (4th), Colby Suderman 1-2 (3rd), Preston D?Albini 1-2 (3rd), Sutton Redger 2-1 (2nd), Scout Redger 1-2 (3rd).

Age 8 & under: Anthony Fickes 2-1 (2nd), Layne Clark 0-3 (4th); Karsen Kroupa 1-2 (3rd), Jayden Overlin 0-3 (4th), Carter Hamm 0-3 (4th), Lane Mayfield 2-1 (2nd), Keygan Pierce 1-2 (3rd), Camden Padgett 3-0 (1st), Lane Rogers 0-2 (3rd), Connor Padgett 2-0 (1st).

Age 10 & under: Garrett Helmer 1-2 (3rd), Tristan Rathbone 1-2 (3rd)

Age 12 & under: Jordan Bachman 2-0 (1st), Raymond Johnston 0-2 (3rd), Jasper Lackey 1-2 (3rd), Trevor Jasper 0-3 (4th).
