Tabor to honor two new inductees for hall of fame

Two new members of the Tabor College Hall of Fame, Christine (Regier) Quiring and Scott Siple, will be honored at a banquet Saturday, May 14, at the Hillsboro Menno?nite Brethren Church, 300 Prairie Pointe.

Quiring, a native of Madrid, Neb., came to Tabor College in fall 1992 as a freshman. She lettered in volleyball all four years, was the team?s most valuable player as a sophomore and junior and was a unamious All-KCAC First Team selection her first three seasons.

She also was named to the NAIA All-District 10 Team as a freshman and sophomore, and was Tabor College Female Athlete-of-the-Year as a sophomore and junior. Her senior year, Regier was Tabor College Scholar Athlete of the Year.

Married during her senior year to Craig Quiring, she added basketball to her list of activities, averaging 4.3 points and 2.3 rebounds per game. She graduated in 1996 with a bachelor?s degree in health and physical education with a concentration in athletic training.

Quiring now lives near Bradshaw, Neb., where the family farm is located. She is a worship leader in her church. She and Craig have four children ranging in age from 4 to 11 years.

Scott Siple, a native of Topeka, came to Tabor College in fall 1987, transferring from Butler County Community College in El Dorado. He played baseball his junior and senior years and graduated in 1989 with a degree in health and physical education with a concentration in recreation.

Defensively, Siple played first base for the Bluejays. As a batter, he hit .431 his junior year, was named the team?s most valuable player, was selected for the KCAC All-Conference First Team and received honorable mention to the NAIA District 10 Team.

Siple was a team captain and most valuable player his senior year, and was Tabor College Male Athlete of the Year. He was selected for the KCAC All-Conference First Team and the NAIA All-District 10 Second Team.

Siple also was chosen for the National Christian College Athletic Association All-District 6 First Team and National Christian College Athletic Association All-American First Team.

He was married to Amy Long in 1992. They have two children, ages 15 and 10. He is a lieutenant for the Wichita Fire Department.
