Tabor inviting applications for major scholarship

Tabor College is soliciting applications for its largest and most prestigious financial award for freshmen, the Presidential Leadership Scholarship.

The scholarship, valued at $16,000, recognizes students who have provided leadership in academics, school activities and in their communities throughout high school.

The program is intended for students to continue making positive contributions during their college career through campus life, academics and aspiring to make a difference in the world.

?Leadership development is an experience that begins with ideas, involves action, requires reflection and builds relationships,? President Jules Glanzer said.

?Students selected will participate in a four-year leadership development laboratory where they will receive a degree in their chosen field and participate in co-curricular activities.?

Students are invited to apply if they meet the following criteria: admittance to Tabor College; minimum high school grade-point average of 3.3; minimum ACT composite score of 23 or a combined SAT critical reading/math score of 1070.

Applicants are required to turn in an application?which can be found at tabor.edu?along with a resume and an example of previous academic work.

After applications are reviewed, finalists will be invited to campus for the final selection process Nov. 4 and 5. Each finalist will make a public presentation, have a personal interview, complete a writing exercise and take part in a group problem-solving activity.

The application packet deadline is 5 p.m. Oct. 1. Finalists will be notified on or before Oct. 12 with an invitation to participated in the on-campus part of the selection process.
