Tabor College Opera is planning a show, renaissance theme meal

TC Opera is planning a fabulous evening as guests to its “Royal Feaste” on Tuesday, April 16. The evening will include a delicious three-course Renaissance-styled meal and a performance of Monteverdi’s beloved classic,“La favola d’Orfeo.”

Dr. Jen Stephenson is the show director and Dr. J. Bradley Baker the conductor. The cast includes Jenna Bloomer, Katherine Coleman, Kelsey Huxman, Nathan Kemling, Caitlyn Rohaus, Jordan Roth, Winter Waple and Keaton Williamson. Miss Kansas Hannah Klaassen will make a guest appearance.

Event guests will experience a reimagined version of the historic feast of carnival held at the court of the Duke and Dutchess Gonzaga at Mantua in 1607, where guests ate a delicious meal and enjoyed a presentation of court composer Claudio Monteverdi’s “La favola d’Orfeo,” a short musical drama that tells the story of Orpheus and Eurydice from Greek mythology.

“La favola d’Orfeo” has remained in the common repertory of classical musicians since its first performance.

TC Opera is excited to present this classic in its original format to Tabor audiences. Tickets are $10. Purchase online by Sunday, April 14, at Tabor.edu/tickets.
