Tabor appoints director for nursing program

Tammy StefekTabor College announces the appointment of Tammy Stefek as director for the nursing programs for Tabor College Wichita & Online, effective July 1.

“Dr. Stefek has provided quality nursing education for the past eight years at Tabor and has been intricately involved in the progression of the programs during that time,” said Tom Shaw, vice president and dean of the School of Adult and Graduate Studies in Wichita.

Stefek, who holds a doctorate in nursing practice through American Sentinel University, has been with Tabor since 2010, first as an adjunct instructor in nursing and later promoted to a full-time faculty member where she currently serves as associate professor of nursing.

“This a significant time in nursing and nursing education,” Stefek said. “Baby boomers make up a large percentage of the nursing workforce, and as they begin to retire, they will become the patients, increasing the nursing shortage. We need to ensure that our nurses are properly prepared for leadership roles that they will hold in the future.”

Tabor is committed to providing a high quality nursing program that will help address the nursing shortage, according to President Jules Glanzer.

“Our nursing program helps us fulfill our mission of preparing people for a life of learning, work and service for Christ and his kingdom,” Glanzer said.
