Sylvia Penner named to Tabor College Board of Directors

The Tabor College Board of Directors has announced the appointment of Sylvia (Bribiesca, g’99) Penner.

Opened in February 2020, Penner is the founding member of Penner Lowe Law Group, L.L.C., in Wichita, Kan. She spent the previous 12 years as a member of Fleeson, Gooing, Coulson & Kitch, L.L.C., in Wichita. She was recognized in the Wichita Business Journal’s Women Who Lead in 2020, as well as her work in workers’ compensation law by The Best Lawyers in America.

Penner earned her B.A. in biology at Tabor, serving on Student Senate and earning recognition on the Dean’s List. She also played varsity basketball and soccer as a Bluejay. Penner received her Juris Doctor from the University of Kansas in 2004.

“On behalf of the Tabor Board of Directors, I’d like to officially welcome Sylvia to our upcoming meetings,” Chair Susan Franz Koslowsky (g’84) said. “Her passion for Tabor and decorated professional career will be great assets on the board.”

Penner will join the fall meetings on Oct. 21-22. She replaces Loren Balzer, who completed 14 years of service to the board in May 2022. Wilbur Unrau (g’72, 13 years), Jerry Kliewer (g’78, 16 years) and Dan Strutz (2 years) will attend their final meeting later this week. Darrell Driggers completed 23 years on the board and his son, Eric (g’01), was the previous newest appointee in February of this year.

“We can’t thank Darrell, Loren, Jerry and Dan enough for their time and service,” Dr. David Janzen, Tabor president, said. “They each oversaw important moments in Tabor’s history, providing valuable leadership in the past, present and future of the college.”
