Hillsboro Elementary School fourth-grade students in Rod Just?s (far right) class participated in ?Create a T-Shirt Contest.? The winner of the contest was Peter Klassen (wearing the design he created) as Pat Bartel (left) and Susan Wadkin, both with the American Legion Auxiliary, help distribute shirts to the rest of the class. The American Legion, a military veteran?s organization and Sons of American Legion, made up of boys and men of all ages whose parents or grandparents served in the U.S. military, take turns each year funding the contest. The American Legion groups teach young people about American flag history, flag etiquette and respecting the privilege of being an American.
