Sider to address Tabor grads

More than 130 students will receive degrees from Tabor College on Saturday, May 19. .

Tabor?s 97th commencement ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. in the Tabor College Gymnasium. A symphonic band concert will precede commencement, beginning at 9:15 a.m.

Ronald J. Sider, professor of theology, holistic ministry and public policy and director of the Sider Center on Ministry and Public Policy at Palmer (formerly Eastern Baptist) Theolog?ical Seminary and president of Evangelicals for Social Action, will address the graduates.

A widely known evangelical speaker and writer, Sider has spoken on six continents and published 29 books, 30 book chapters and more than 70 articles in scholarly journals and magazines.

His book ?Rich Christians in an Age of Hunger: A Biblical Study? was recognized by Christianity Today as one of the 100 most influential religious books of the 20th century.

His most recent books are ?The Scandal of the Evangelical Conscience: Why Are Christians Living Just Like the Rest of the World? (Baker), ?Just Generosity: A New Vision for Overcoming Poverty in America? (Baker) and ?Churches That Make a Difference: Reaching Your Community with Good News? and ?Good Works with Phil Olson and Heidi Unruh? (Baker).

Sider is the publisher of PRISM magazine and a contributing editor of Christianity Today and Sojourners magazines

Sider has lectured at scores of colleges and universities around the world, including Yale, Harvard, Princeton and Oxford.
