The public is invited to hear historian, educator and author Keith Sprunger present ?Bethel College and Tabor College: Common His?tories? Unique Histories?? at noon Thurs?day, Nov. 14, on the Tabor campus.
This lunch-hour lecture will take place in the Blue-Gold Room in the student center. Interested persons can purchase lunch from the cafeteria or bring their own meal to enjoy during his remarks.
Sprunger is Oswald H. Wedel Professor Emeritus of History at Bethel College. He taught at Bethel between 1963 and 2001. A native of Berne, Ind.,his undergraduate education was at Wheaton College. He has a post-graduate degrees from the University of Illinois in early European and English history.
Sprunger?s scholarly interests include 17th century English, Dutch and American Puritanism, Mennonite history and the history of Bethel College.
Peggy Goertzen, director of Tabor College Center for Mennonite Brethren Studies, said, ?This is an opportunity to hear Sprun?ger?s insights into our early educational beginnings.?
Sprunger and wife Aldine are parents of three children: David, Mary and Philip, who are all graduates of Bethel College and teach at the college level.
