The winners of the 26th annual Lions International Peace Poster Contest were announced Nov. 12 at Hillsboro Middle School. Kelli Dyck (center) created the winning poster, Karllene Kennedy (left) placed second and Eva Noble third. The contest, sponsored locally by the Hillsboro Lions Club, was open to youth 11 through 13 years old; local posters were drawn by students in Phil Oelke?s sixth-grade class. The purpose of the contest is to emphasize to young people the importance of world peace. This year?s theme was ?Our World, Our Future.? Cash prizes were awarded to the top three posters, but all entrants were honored at Tuesday?s recognition celebration.
