Bethany Loucks, (middle) Peabody-Burns High School student and Body Venture instructor, talked with elementary students recently about the stomach and how it functions.
Learning healthy lifestyles was the primary focus of Body Venture, a
traveling exhibit that visited Peabody-Burns Elementary School on
Thursday, Nov. 6, said Ken Parry, principal.
?More than 160 children had a firsthand look at how to make healthy choices and remain healthy throughout their lives,? he said.
The exhibit was a good way for students to have fun learning about health, nutrition and physical activity, he said.
The exhibit, developed by Child Nutrition and Wellness in association with the Kansas State Department of Education, featured an 11-stop tour of the body from brain to mouth, stomach, small intestine, heart, lungs, bones, muscles and skin.
?What?s great is that the kids are actively involved in learning about good nutrition and making healthful lifestyle choices,? Parry said.
?We appreciate the support of our Parent-Teacher Organiza?tion,? he said, ?as well as the high school students who assisted with the exhibit.?
