Nikkel to share love for birding at 60+

Former Tabor College President Larry Nikkel will speak on ?Birding: A Hobby for All People, in All Places, at All Times? at the Tabor College 60+ Learning in Retirement Program, at 10 a.m. Monday, April 21, in the Wohlgemuth Music Education Center.

?Larry said he looked forward to resuming lots of interests in retirement that he had put on the shelf,? said LRP coordinator Connie Isaac.

?When I heard that these include birding, I knew we had to have him come and speak to us. It?s an aspect of Larry that we have not heard before. Larry will tell us how we can find many very interesting birds right here in Marion County.?

Nikkel became the 12th president of Tabor College in 1999 and retired at the end of 2007. At present, he is overseeing the Centennial Plaza sculpture project on campus, to mark the college?s 100th year of operation. He also is serving on the national board of Mennonite Mutual Aid.

The public is welcome to attend all Learning in Retirement programs. Fees are $3 per session or $15 per semester ($28 per couple).

Registration and discount cards for lunch in the cafeteria will be available at the door during the half hour before the meeting.
