MHS, Tabor musical groups to present concert

The Marion High School Boys Ensemble and the Tabor College Concert Choir will perform a joint concert at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17 in the Marion Performing Arts Center.

The concert will feature the program that both groups will present in Wichita at the Kansas Music Educators Association In-Service Workshop.

At KMEA, the Marion Boys Ensemble will perform at 9 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22 in the Mary JaneTeal Theater as will the Tabor Concert Choir at 1 p.m. Friday.

The Marion Boys Ensemble consists of 11 boys from grades 9-12. Their performance will include a variety of music literature. They will present an original work written by hometown native Michael Brookens, a member and arranger of the vocal band Six Appeal.

The Tabor College Concert choir will appear for the fifth time at KMEA since 2000. Their pieces include a set of spirituals and two works by Norwegian composer Ola Gjeilo.
