MHS FFA team takes 2nd at state contest

A team of freshmen agriculture-education students from Marion High School took second place at the South Central District FFA Freshman Ag Mechanics contest May 12 at Inman High School.

Derrick Dvorak placed third individually at the contest.

Contest activities included tool identification, a written safety test, a problem solving activity, identification of parts on a metal ironworker, and a welding skill. Welding-skill contestants were required to make a straight cut with an oxy-acetylene torch, and a cut with a 45-degree angle on a piece of metal.

Evan Slater and Tyler Wildin also competed in the event for Marion?s team.
