The top four finishers among the 46 students who participated received cash awards from AFBF, the event sponsor. The event is intended to recognize FFA members for their ability to prepare and present a factual speech on a specific agricultural issue. Participants select one topic from a choice of categories, then have 30 minutes to prepare a four- to six-minute speech, and respond to five minutes of questions following delivery.
