The big door to the warehouse at Mennonite Central Committee in North Newton will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 26, for people to come in and shop for good-quality used clothing and much more.
Irma Gonzalez, MCC?s workroom supervisor, started the garage sale several years ago and each year she works hard to organize the sale to help local people in need. Items for sale include clothing and shoes, winter coats, fabric, craft and sewing books, sewing machines, craft items, toys and more.
MCC, a worldwide ministry of Anabaptist churches, seeks to express God?s love and compassion for all people in the name of Christ by responding to basic human needs and working for peace and justice.
The sale helps fill the needs of local people with good-quality clothing, shoes, coats and more. It also provides a way for MCC to use donated items that cannot be shipped overseas.
The proceeds from the sale will support the MCC Material Resource Center in North Newton. MCC also donates items to the Newton homeless shelter, Health Ministries and other local service agencies.
For more information, or to volunteer to help at the sale, please call Gonzalez at 316-283-2720. The MCC Warehouse is located at 121 E. 30th in North Newton.
