Marion-Florence FFA members recognized for achievements

at annual banquet

The Marion-Florence FFA Chapter conducted its parent-member-employer banquet in the Marion High School cafeteria April 27.

Members were recognized for their activities during the year and received awards.

Cade Harms was recognized as the Chapter Star Farmer, Kaitlyn Goebel received the Chapter Start in Placement Award, and Cassie Meyer was recognized as the Star Chapter Greenhand in Production.

Other proficiency award winners: Agricul­ture Ser­vice Proficiency, Jeremy Hett; Beef Produc­tion (Entrepreneurship division), Cade Harms; Diversified Crop Production (Placement division), Caleb Hett; Diver­sified Horticul­ture (Place­ment division), Carley Stapleford; Equine Science, Zane Slater; Forage Produc­tion, Antone Vin­duska; Forestry, Zane Slater; Ag Mechanics Design & Fabri­cation (Placement division), Jarret McLinden; Small Animal Production (Entre­preneurship division), Kaitlyn Goebel; Veterinary Science (Placement division), Kaitlyn Goebel.

The chapter presented appreciation certificates to Prairieland Partners Inc., Tod Gordon, Hillsboro Industries, Don Molleker, Cooperative Grain & Supply, Eileen Schmidt, Salem Cairns, Carlson’s Grocery, Allen and Jenny Stapleford, Chuck and Lori McLinden, Allan Hett, and Gambino’s Pizza for their assistance during the year.

Jennifer Roland and Valerie Goebel were named honorary chapter FFA degree recipients during the banquet. Raleigh Kroupa was recognized for receiving the American Farmer degree at the past National FFA Convention.

Elizabeth Meyer, current state FFA president, was the speaker for the evening. The chapter presented a Power­Point slide show of the year’s highlights after the meal.

About 120 members and guests attended the banquet.

Chapter officers for 2017-18 are: president, Carley Stapleford; vice president, Antone Vinduska; secretary, Austin Neufeld; treasurer, Devin Soyez; reporter, Shelby Cairns; sentinel, Cassie Meyer.
