Marion-Florence FFA claims 3rd place

Officers of the Marion-Florence FFA chapter placed third overall at the South Central District FFA Leader?ship Conference Nov. 13 at Arkansas City.

The conference consisted of three different competitions: Parliamen?tary Proced?ure, Leadership Infor?mation and Ritual.

Marion placed second in the Leadership Information contest, fifth in Parliamen?tary Procedure, and sixth in the Ritual contest. These rankings combined to give the chapter a third place finish overall of 26 teams in the South Central District.

Students competing in Parliamentary Procedure were required to take a test over subject and then perform a 10-minute demonstration of 10 different parliamentary motions. The demonstration had to reflect a meeting in progress, and participants found out which motions they had to demonstrate and their topic exactly one minute prior to the start.

The Leadership Informa?tion contest consisted of a 100-question test covering the agricultural industry, the FFA organization, officers, history, official functions, and current programs and awards.

Students in the Ritual contest were required to perform the opening ceremony used at FFA meetings and official functions.

Individually for Marion, Elizabeth Meyer placed sixth in the FFA information test and Aidan Cairns and Car?ley Stapleford tied for 12th.

Also participating for Marion were Cade Harms, Kaitlyn Goebel and Ezra Darnall.
